Community Tennis Members,

Congratulations to the City of Folsom SATA Women's 6.0 Doubles team, captained by Beth Mergens.  The team earned their way into the playoffs and went 3-0 once there!  Finishing in 1st place in your flight is a great way to wrap up the 2009 season!

I hope all of us are able to enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday this week with family. Just remember that if you get out on court ahead of time, and work hard, you won't have to feel guilty while eating all of that food on Thursday!

For those who play on one or more of the City of Folsom SATA or USTA league teams, I have a favor for you to consider.  The city leagues happen only because of work done by volunteers, in many capacities, including team captains, our schedule coordinator and those who work to improve our facilities via grants and other efforts.  Unfortunately, most of the work is done by 10% of those the enjoy league play. 

Maureen Guetschow is one of those who frequenly volunteers.  In addition to captaining teams, for the past year (plus) she has updated the Ed Mitchell court schedule that is available online and is posted at the courts. This task is essential to league play as it helps to make sure teams don't double book the courts, and it enables other players to know when leagues will be using the courts. 

We rotate the calendar coordinater job around, so different players get to chip in some time. It's time to rotate that job, and Maureen will be posting her final calendar update in December. We need someone to take over that task for 2010.

If you have been playing on league teams, and enjoy all the benefits that come from our public court league play, this is a great opportunity to give just a little bit of time back into the volunteer organization that makes it possible.  If you are interested, or want more details, please drop a note to Rob Vomund.
