History
This website and the Community Tennis Player Network were started in late 2001 by Rob and Susan Vomund. In the spring of that year, Rob and Susan took introductory tennis lessons, taught by the El Dorado Hills CSD. As their playtime and skills increased, they sought a wider variety of people to play.
Rob and Susan came up with the idea of creating an informal network of players, consisting mostly of those who play on local public courts. The thinking was that players could add their name to a list of those interested in meeting other players. It worked, and soon they had 20 players on the list. The website was created and the list was put online in late 2001, protected by a password. Additionally, Rob started sending out regular email updates to the network, to keep members informed about the group, and about local tennis.
The list grew through word-of-mouth, and in early 2002 a competitive "ladder" was also created. This allowed for a slightly more formal way for players to optionally compete, and earn a ranking.
Rob & Susan's involvement in tennis continued to grow, and the website and the Community Tennis Player Network continued to grow as well, both in terms of members and other tennis related content.

Today
There are
now over 150 individuals who are a part of the Community Tennis Player Network, and Rob and Susan continue to work with many others to drive the program forward. About a quarter of
the network members are active participants in the competitive tennis ladder.
Others are members in order to meet people to play tennis socially,
rather than competitively. Others, still, are members because they like
the sport, and like getting the regular email updates that alert them
about local tournaments, social events, tennis related park and recreation
information, and tennis trivia.

Vision and Goals
We want to ensure that adults and youths from El Dorado Hills and Folsom can:
- Enjoy playing tennis locally at all levels, from beginner to advanced.
- Have easy access to a large and growing network of local players who share similar tennis interests and skill levels.
- Have the lowest possible "barriers of entry" for new players.
- Have public tennis facilities which can be utilized year round, each offering consistently high quality design, features and maintenance. Out-of-town players will be impressed with our facilities, and we will be proud to share them!
- Participate in a wide range of low-cost tennis events, competitive "ladders" and organized team play.
To do this, we are:
- Working and partnering with the City of Folsom, the El Dorado Hills CSD, tennis associations, corporations and interested individuals.
- Continuing to run the Community Tennis Player Network so that local players remain connected and informed.
- Raising funds for new and improved public tennis facilities

Member fees
Since 2001 we have run this website, and our related tennis activities and programs, without any cost to anyone to join or participate. Running this website does come with costs. We pay monthly and annual fees for a variety of services that make this all possible. Additionally, we put 20 to 30 hours per month of our time toward this community tennis program.
In late 2008 we started using Google to run small advertisements on this website. The hope was to provide an unobtrusive way to provide a small bit of revenue to offset some of our costs and time.
We get paid nothing for having the ads show on our site. Instead, we earn credits when these ads are clicked. Each click of an ad on this site typically will earn us between 5 and 20 cents, depending on which ad is clicked.
We appreciate your support.
